Expanding the WCO Smart Customs Portal: New Case Repository on Disruptive Technologies

News
27 March 2026

The WCO Smart Customs Project has expanded the Smart Customs Portal with the launch of a new section: the Case Repository on Disruptive Technologies. Developed based on the 2025 WCO Smart Customs Survey, which received responses from 61 Members, the new section provides an overview of Members’ experiences in adopting disruptive technologies.

Designed to be dynamic and practical, this resource enables Members to explore real-world cases of technology adoption across different stages, from pilot and exploration to full implementation. It supports Members in identifying relevant practices, understanding emerging trends, and gaining insights into how disruptive technologies are being applied in Customs administrations.  It also helps Members identify initiatives undertaken by other Members that may be relevant to their own priorities, thereby supporting Customs-to-Customs cooperation on technology adoption.

Members are encouraged to explore the Case Repository and share their own practices to further enrich this resource. National Contact Points (NCPs) of the WCO Smart Customs Project are also invited to join the discussion on the Smart Customs Portal Forum (https://scp.wcoomd.org/forums) and exchange views on this topic.
